My name's Jim Corrigan and I'm a retired financial planner and sports nut down in sunny Florida. When not dodging hurricanes and crazy election scandals, I cheer on the Devil Rays and help out in the community however I can. After church one day, a young man in the parish walked up to me and said "Jim, I need some help. You used to take care of people's money, right?"
"I sure did," I said as we walked to our cars.
"Well, my wife and I, we need some help." His making that first step was the most important act he could take on his road to financial well-being.
We went out to dinner that night and back at his place, we reviewed their options - they'd accrued $90,000 in debt and had yet to move into their own home.
